Heidi Wicks has written for CBC, the Newfoundland Quarterly, Riddle Fence, the Globe and Mail, and Breakwater Books’ creative nonfiction anthology Best Kind (2018). Her debut novel, Melt (Breakwater, 2020), made the Globe and Mail’s Best Summer Reading list in 2020. She recently received ArtsNL funding to complete a short story collection, titled Here. Her Hard Ticket story was inspired by Tom Wolfe’s Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test and a lifelong regret of never attending Salmon Festival.
