Positive poem about being open to possibilities.
Austin Lee is a passionate artist and educator in the Langley and Abbotsford school districts. Having recently graduated from the Bachelor of Education Program at UBC, he had the opportunity to contribute to the SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) Collective whose goals are to foster the empowerment of LGBTQ+ students and educators. Art has been an extremely influential element in his life. It has been a way for him to express his emotions and thoughts in a safe and controlled way, truly like art therapy. Growing up as a queer individual through most of grade school brought many life challenges, resulting in intense times of withdrawal and depression. Sometimes art was the only way for him to feel heard. Being an LGBTQ+ advocate is what has brought Austin to this point in his academic journey. Through his yearning to care for others and help people learn and grow, Austin hopes to elevate the voices of all of his present and future students.
