Joanne Arnott

Joanne is a Métis/mixed-blood writer and editor, mother to six young people and author of eight books. Her first book, Wiles of Girlhood, won the League of Canadian Poets’ Gerald Lampert Award (1992). Her most recent poetry titles are Pensive & beyond (Nomados 2019), A Night for the Lady (Ronsdale 2013), and Halfling spring: an internet romance (Kegedonce 2013). She co-edited a collection with Deanna Reader, Michelle Coupall, and Emalene Manuel, Honouring the Strength of Indian Women: Plays, Stories, Poetry by Vera Manuel (University of Manitoba Press, 2019). Joanne received the Vancouver Mayor’s Arts Award for Literary Arts for 2017. She is currently the Poetry Mentor at SFU’s The Writers Studio, and Poetry Editor for Event magazine.
