Jillian is a full-time mother/wife and writes poetry as a hobby. She developed a strong interest in poetry in high school, with special thanks to a very influential English teacher. She keeps most of her poetry work private and personal. This is her first published submission, and she looks forward to sharing more of her work with others. Upon writing this poem, she realized it was meant to be shared. She hopes it inspires others to find their voice and strength as modern-day Indigenous persons.
