Sheena Robinson

Sheena is a Heiltsuk woman who grew up in Vancouver, BC and discovered her love of reading and writing at an early age. Her inspiration comes from the various places she’s lived along the northwest coast, including Bella Coola, Mayne Island, Nanaimo, and Bella Bella, where her family on her mom’s side is from. She recently graduated from Vancouver Island University with a BA in First Nations Studies and Creative Writing. She’s been published in VIU’s Portal and Incline magazines, and is currently working on a young adult novel. In the writing contest component of this anthology, Sheena won second prize fiction for “Grey Skies” and second prize poetry for “Saving Cedar Saving Me.” Sheena also recently made the longlist for the 2019 CBC Nonfiction Prize for “Identity Dreams.”
