Jerry Smaaslet

Originally from Fort Ware, BC, Jerry is a member of the Carrier Sikanni Nation. He served over 30 years of a life sentence in the Fraser Valley, before being released to the Circle of Eagles Halfway House. Writing gives Jerry balance, awareness, emotional freedom, and a strong bond with his inner child. He recently became a high school graduate which he hopes will inspire and encourage warriors, life-givers, and the wounded to carry on. He trusts the Creator, and his release to the Circle of Eagles Lodge has humbled him as he continues walking in the tradition. Jerry wishes to serve as a role model or advisor, helping those who seek a brighter side. This is Jerry’s second publication. A portion of Jerry’s story was previously published by Rebel Mountain Press in In Our Own Aboriginal Voice (2016). Jerry hopes that others, especially the young, can learn from his mistakes.
