Mercedes Eng writes and makes text-based art in Vancouver, on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. She is the author of Mercenary English, a long poem about violence and resistance in the Downtown Eastside neighbourhood of Vancouver, and Prison Industrial Complex Explodes, winner of the 2018 Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize.
