Sadiqa de Meijer (b. 1977) was born in Amsterdam to parents of Dutch and Kenyan-Pakistani-Afghani origins, and has lived in Canada since the age of twelve. Her poetry has been published in a range of journals, including The Malahat Review, CV2, and Poetry Magazine, and was awarded the CBC Poetry Prize. Her first collection, Leaving Howe Island, was a finalist for the Pat Lowther Memorial Award and the Governor General’s Literary Award.
