Mark Callanan (b. 1979) was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He is the author of two full-length collections of poetry and a chapbook. His most recent poetry collection, Gift Horse (Véhicule Press, 2011), was shortlisted for both the E.J. Pratt Poetry Book Award and the Winterset Award. He co-edited The Breakwater Book of Contemporary Newfoundland Poetry (Breakwater Books, 2013) and is one of the founding editors of the literary journal Riddle Fence. He lives in St. John’s with his wife and four children.
