Molly Peacock

Molly Peacock is the author of seven poetry collections, including The Analyst: Poems, The Second Blush, Cornucopia: New and Selected Poems, Original Love, Take Heart, Raw Heaven and And Live Apart. She is the author of How to Read a Poem & Start a Poetry Circle, co-editor of Poetry in Motion: 100 Poems from the Subways and Buses, and editor of The Private I: Privacy in a Public World. Peacock is also the author of a memoir, Paradise, Piece by Piece, two biographies about the lives of women visual artists: The Paper Garden: Mrs. Delany Begins Her Life’s Work at 72 and Flower Diary: Mary Hiester Reid Paints, Travels, Marries & Opens a Door, and a play, The Shimmering Verge. She founded The Best Canadian Poetry annual series. A former President of the Poetry Society of America, she co-founded Poetry in Motion on New York’s subways and buses. Among her honors are Fellowships from the Canada Council for the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, Access Copyright, The Leon Levy Center for Biography, the Institute for Citizens and Scholars, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Ingram Merrill and the Danforth Foundations. Her poems have appeared in leading literary journals such as Poetry, The Malahat Review, CV2, The Women’s Review of Books, Liber, The Paris Review, The New Yorker, The Nation, Poetry London, and Plume and are anthologized in The Oxford Book of American Poetry and The Best American Poetry. Her latest project is Molly Peacock’s Secret Poetry Room at Binghamton University. The widow of James Joyce scholar Michael Groden, she is a dual citizen of Canada and the US and teaches for the Unterberg Poetry Center 92NY.
