Hank Charles
Hank is a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band in northern Saskatchewan. His band consists of six reserve communities that have gone through social upheaval as a result of colonization and residential schools. Writing, for Hank, is a way to release the trauma. It is a way to teach society about what happened. Land-based education has always been his interest, and he previously published an article on that topic, “Reconnecting with the Land: Embracing ‘Nihithaway Pimatisiwin’ as a basis for land-based education, healing, and reconciliation”, 2018 – First Peoples Writing Undergraduate Journal – British Columbia.
